Threadz & Textilez with Teenz

This is a program designed for Teenagers 13 to 19 years of age. It is structured to give teens the opportunity to not only learn sewing but also work on their school projects in a fun and social environment.

What is covered.......

Learn to use a sewing machine
Learn to use an overlocker
Learn to take accurate measurements
Zippers & button holes
Tackle sewing issues
Troubleshoot basic sewing machine issue
Understand a commercial sewing pattern and follow the pattern instructions
Pattern layout & Garment construction
Work on your school projects

The hands-on work........

Children will start with easy projects and gradually move on the medium and difficult level projects.
Atleast one project will be based on sustainable sewing.
While these classes are not specifically HSC focused, HSC students can work on their major work in class while learning, building and improving on their sewing skills and techniques.

What to bring.......

Fabrics for each project
Drafting / Butcher's / Packaging paper
Vinyl (party table vinyl)
Dressmaking pins (Glass, Pearl, or Plastic head)
Measurement tape
Tailors chalk
Matching coloured cottons/ threads along with Extra Bobbins
Scissors
Rulers
Pattern drafting rulers
Hand sewing needles
Extra sewing machine needles to have handy
Pens / Pencil
Note book to take down measurements

What to bring.....

We will provide: Sewing machines if you don’t have your own or can’t bring it to class. All other equipment, patterns for the projects, fabrics as required and lots of very practical advice and techniques!

Who are these classes for.......

Please note these classes are for children who have a genuine interest in learning sewing or dressmaking. As these classes are aimed at teenagers, the classes are project based and are both child and educator led.

If a child is after crafty sewing, this won't be the right classes to sign up to.
