There are a few different ways that you can finish a neckline, the most common being a neckline facing or by using bias binding.
As different garments require different neckline finishes, In this workshop you will be taught the three different methods for finishing necklines - facing, binding, and ribbing.
Necklines are most important in any garment as they frame the face. They are designed in a way to complement one’s best features and conceal poor ones. Hence, picking the right choice of fabric, the colour and texture is really important.
Necklines of a garment should harmonize with :
• The size of the person
• The shape of the face
• The length of the neck
• The width of the shoulders
In this workshop you will learn how to draft a variety of different necklines from a basic pattern or sloper block.
You will learn how to.....
• Draft a neckline
• Draft facing for neckline
• Take accurate measurements
• Design a basic to complex necklines
• Design fine details on necklines
• Create gape-free necklines
• Draft a V, crew, scoop, boat neckline and more
• Raise and lower the neckline on the pattern
• Select the best neckline to suit body shape.
Learners will need to....
• Draft atleast 7 different necklines
• Design atleast 4 necklines with fine details
• Take accurate measurements
• Work as buddies to identify each bodyshape and draft a neckline most suitable for your buddy.

• BYO Sewing machine
• Hand sewing needles
• Spare sewing machine needles
• Threads / Cottons
• Filled bobbin
• Fusible interfacing
• Pinking shears
• Fabric cutting Scissors

What you need to know before attending the workshop.....
• Please make sure to press / iron out all fabrics before bring them to the workshop.
• Ironing of fabrics won't be allowed during the workshop due to time limitation.
• Please check your sewing machines to make sure they are working well.
• Cut a piece of the fabric you will be bring along and get your sewing machine settings ready.
• Learners will not be taught how to draft any thing else such as bodice, collar, etc in this workshop.
This workshop is more of drafting and designing and less of sewing.
