Children's Soft toys making classes

Children will explore a variety of easy to use materials and learn new skills such as sewing, pattern making and how to use tools required to make each project. Classes encourage imagination, creativity and fun! Boys enjoy the experience as well.

This is a 10-week series and children will get to make 6 to 7 small size soft toys. The numbers of projects might vary for each child as children learn at different speed levels.

Children will learn about design, sewing curves on the sewing machine, and practice hand sewing too. Please note, learning to sew by hand is equally essential as sewing by machine in this course.

I will take them through each step of the process, including choosing materials, drafting pattern pieces, pattern layout, fabric layout, adding details, and the sewing process. There will be use of commercial patterns as well as custom drafting of patterns.

Teddy bears, stuffed sheep, plush mice—soft toys are often one of the most treasured belongings from a person’s childhood. As an experienced soft toy maker, I am passionate about keeping both the nostalgia and tradition of handmade toys alive.

Classes encourage imagination, creativity and fun! As this is a popular course with girls and boys enjoy the experience as well the soft toys will be a blend of targeting both genders.

Children will be given copies of patterns for each toys they make by the end of this 10 weeks course.

Good to know:

No small parts will be used for eyes etc. these are completely handmade as in everything will be done by sewing only.
