Abaya Sewing Classes

Have you ever dreamed of sewing your own abaya? Whether you are looking at sewing for yourself or for others or just looking to pick up a new skill for fun, this course is perfectly for you!

Prerequisite: Completed Beginners Sewing Classes or have prior sewing skills.

What is needed….

Fabrics for each project
Dressmaking pins (Glass, Pearl, or Plastic head)
Measurement tape

Drafting paper 
Tailors chalk
Matching coloured cottons/ threads along with Bobbins
Scissors
Glue stick
Extra sewing machine needles to have handy
Pens / Pencil
Book to take down measurements

Here is what you will learn….

Take accurate measurements
Draft a customer pattern to fit
Pin and layout patterns
Fabric layout
Garment construction
Draft a basic bodice
Draft a basic skirt
Carbon sewing techniques
Working with zippers, buttons & buttonholes
Setting up and using an overlocker.

Learners will complete two projects with variations in styles and kind of fabrics, using the basic patterns drafted by themselves as well as work as a team taking measurements and completing projects.

Mondays - 16th June, 2025 from 6pm to 8pm

Duration - 6 weeks

Cost: $75 per week (OR) $450 upfront
