They will practise securing yarn, changing direction and covering different sections of their letter.

Each child will create a colourful initial using their favourite yarn colours.

Take-home creation: A personalised yarn-wrapped initial.

Week 2 — Colours, Stripes & Patterns

Using felt, ribbons and other suitable embellishments, they will explore different decorative styles.

Learners will create another decorated letter or enhance their existing pieces with handmade details.

Skills: Creative design, embellishment, layering and finishing.

Take-home creation: A personalised decorative letter.

Week 4 — My Personalised Letter Display

Project: My Name or Initial Display

For their final project, children will bring together their yarn-wrapped letters and decorations to create a personalised display.

Depending on their age, interests and working pace, learners may create:

  • A colourful initial display.
  • A short name display.
  • A decorative monogram.
  • A personalised bedroom sign.
  • A letter-and-shape wall decoration.

Children will arrange their pieces on a suitable display base and add finishing touches.

Skills: Creative planning, arranging, assembling and presenting handmade artwork.
