Fun crafts with felt!

Cut, stitch and stuff your way to a collection of beautiful handmade felt creations! 🧵🌈

Discover the wonderful world of felt crafting at Lyndaz Kreative Klasses!

Felt is soft, colourful and wonderfully versatile, making it an ideal material for introducing children to hand sewing and textile crafts.

In this fun, hands-on four-week course, children will explore different ways to cut, shape, stitch, decorate and construct felt creations.

From making their first hand-stitched bookmark to creating a little pouch, an adorable stuffed felt animal and their own personalised project, children will develop practical sewing skills while expressing their creativity.

Every week brings a new project to make and take home!

This course is suitable for complete beginners. Children who have attended our My First Hand-Stitched Bookmark holiday workshop can build on their experience, but attending the workshop is not a prerequisite.

🪡 What Your Child Will Learn

Throughout the course, children will learn to:

  • Explore different types of felt and their uses.

  • Use templates to measure, mark and cut felt shapes.

  • Thread a needle and make secure knots.

  • Practise running stitch and blanket stitch.

  • Join felt pieces to construct simple projects.

  • Add buttons, beads and decorative embellishments.

  • Use stuffing to create three-dimensional felt characters.

  • Develop their own designs and complete handmade creations.

🌈 Your 4-Week Creative Journey

Week 1 — Felt Basics & First Stitches

Project: My First Felt Bookmark

Children begin by exploring felt, learning basic cutting techniques and becoming familiar with hand-sewing tools.

They will practise threading a needle, tying knots, running stitch and introductory blanket stitch.

Using these skills, each child will create and decorate a colourful felt bookmark to take home.

Week 2 — Felt Pouch

Project: My Little Felt Pouch

This week, children learn how to join felt pieces to create a small, practical pouch.

They will practise blanket stitch, explore simple construction techniques and add decorative details.

Depending on their age and ability, learners can personalise their pouch with a suitable button, fastening or embellishment.

Week 3 — Felt Animals & Friends

Project: My Stuffed Felt Friend

It's time to bring felt creations to life!

Children will use templates to cut felt shapes, stitch pieces together and add soft stuffing to create an adorable miniature felt animal.

They will also explore simple appliqué and decorative stitching to add facial features and other details.

Week 4 — My Own Felt Creation

Project: Final Felt Project & Showcase

For their final session, children will use the skills developed throughout the course to create a personalised felt project.

They can choose from suitable projects such as:

  • A decorative felt keyring.

  • A felt hair accessory.

  • A small felt brooch.

  • A miniature felt picture.

Projects will be adapted to suit each learner's age, experience and abilities.

Children will complete their creations, practise finishing techniques and enjoy sharing their handmade work with the group.
