Have you always wanted to learn to sew but never found the time during the week?

My Weekend Beginners Sewing Classes are designed for absolute beginners who would love to learn practical sewing skills in a relaxed, friendly and welcoming creative environment.

Whether you're a teenager, parent, grandparent or someone simply wanting to learn a new skill, you're welcome to join!

No previous sewing experience is necessary.

✂️ About the Course

This beginner-friendly course consists of 4 practical sessions, with 2 hours of learning per session.

You'll work through sewing machine fundamentals, essential sewing techniques, understanding patterns and completing beginner-friendly projects.

There is no rigid weekly project schedule. Each learner progresses through the course content at a comfortable pace, with the aim of completing the learning activities and projects across the four sessions.

Sewing Foundations

• Taking accurate measurements

• Choosing suitable fabrics

• Understanding and adjusting sewing patterns

• Preparing fabric before cutting

• Measuring, marking and cutting fabric correctly

• Understanding essential sewing tools

Getting Confident With Your Sewing Machine

• Identifying the parts of a sewing machine

• Winding and inserting a bobbin

• Threading top-loading and front-loading machines

• Understanding basic machine settings

• Practising straight stitching and seam control

• Completing a sewing machine driving test

• Basic troubleshooting and machine care

✨ Your Practical Sewing Projects

Project 1 — Fabric Scrunchie

Create a simple fabric scrunchie while learning to:

• Pin and cut fabric accurately

• Sew straight seams

• Create a fabric casing

• Insert elastic

• Finish a small sewing project neatly

Project 2 — Envelope Cushion Cover

Make a practical cushion cover while learning to:

• Measure and cut fabric

• Construct an envelope opening

• Sew double-folded hems

• Sew and finish seams

• Turn and finish your cushion cover

Understanding Commercial Sewing Patterns

Learn how to:

• Read commercial pattern instructions and markings

• Understand pattern sizing

• Increase or decrease pattern sizes

• Identify fabric prints and grainlines

• Prepare pattern layouts and cut fabric

Project 3 — Pyjama Pants or Shorts

Develop your garment-making skills while learning to:

• Prepare and cut a trouser or shorts pattern

• Follow basic garment construction techniques

• Sew seams and hems

• Create an elasticated waistband or drawstring casing

• Complete a simple wearable garment

Project completion depends on individual learning pace and the complexity of the chosen project.

Project fabric quantities and requirements can be discussed before your first class.

📅 Weekend Class Arrangements

Course Duration: 4 sessions × 2 hours = 8 hours

Weekend classes are open to beginners of different ages and experience levels.

Learning frequency and available weekend session times are selected during booking and are subject to confirmation.

💳 Course Fees & Payment Options

Pay Per Session: $85 per session

Pay Upfront — Full Course: $340 for all 4 sessions

Students may choose to pay for the complete course upfront or pay per session.

Payment conditions:

• PayID and direct bank transfer are accepted.

• Afterpay is available for full-course upfront payments only.

• Afterpay is not available for individual session payments.

• Cash payments are not accepted.

• Payment must be received at least 3 days before the relevant class or first scheduled session to secure the booking.
