Discover the magic behind tie-dye patterns!
Children will explore different ways of folding, twisting and binding cotton fabric.
They will practise creating spiral and folded designs on small fabric samples before applying their chosen colours.
Learners will begin to understand how different folding methods influence the finished patterns.
Week 2 — Colour Mixing & Blending
Project: Colourful Tie-Dye Experiments
This week, children will explore the wonderful world of colour!
They will experiment with suitable dye colours, learn about colour combinations and discover how different colours blend on fabric.
Using their developing folding and dyeing skills, learners will create colourful fabric samples featuring their chosen combinations.
Week 3 — Patterns Plus!
Project: Bullseye & Striped Tie-Dye Designs
It's time to explore more exciting patterns!
Children will learn how to fold and bind fabric to create bullseye and striped designs.
They will experiment with colour placement and pattern arrangements while creating their own tie-dyed fabric pieces.
Week 4 — My Final Tie-Dye Creation
Project: Personalised Tie-Dye Bandana or T-Shirt
Children will bring together the techniques explored throughout the course to design and create their final tie-dye project.
They can choose a suitable cotton item, such as a bandana or T-shirt, and plan their preferred pattern and colour combinations.
Using the techniques they have learned, children will fold, bind and dye their fabric before preparing it for the required setting and rinsing process.
Please note: Depending on the dye used, final projects may need additional setting time before rinsing and use. Children may need to complete the rinsing process at home with adult assistance, following the manufacturer's instructions.
