During this four-week creative course, I'll guide you through the process of transforming sentimental clothing into a beautiful handcrafted Memory Bear.

Whether you're creating a keepsake in remembrance of someone special, celebrating a milestone or preserving precious family memories, you'll learn practical sewing and keepsake-making techniques in a warm, patient and supportive environment.

Practical Activity: Prepare your keepsake fabrics and cut your Memory Bear pattern pieces.

Week 2 – Sewing Your Memory Bear

Understanding the correct sewing sequence

Sewing curved seams

Maintaining consistent seam allowances

Matching seams accurately

Constructing the body and limbs

Preparing and attaching arms and legs

Managing fabric bulk

Achieving neat, professional finishes

Practical Activity: Sew the main components of your Memory Bear.

Week 3 – Stuffing, Shaping & Assembly

Turning sewn pieces correctly

Understanding suitable toy stuffing

Stuffing evenly and avoiding lumps

Shaping the head, body and limbs

Understanding limb placement and attachment

Hand sewing openings securely

Balancing the finished bear

Practical Activity: Stuff, shape and assemble your Memory Bear.

Week 4 – Finishing Touches & Personalisation

Basic embroidery techniques

Creating embroidered eyes and facial details

Nose finishing techniques

Decorative stitching

Attaching suitable trims

Adding bows, ribbons or keepsake labels

Including a personal message or heart insert

Final inspection and presentation

Practical Activity: Complete and personalise your treasured Memory Bear.

🌸 What You'll Learn

By the end of the course, you'll have developed practical skills in pattern preparation, fabric cutting, stabilisation, curved seam construction, toy assembly, stuffing, shaping, hand sewing and decorative finishing.

You'll work towards completing your own beautiful Memory Bear using treasured fabrics and personalised details.

Project completion may vary according to your sewing experience, fabric complexity and the level of detail added.

Everyone learns at their own pace, and I provide patient, individual guidance throughout the course.

Please note that Memory Bears containing buttons, detachable embellishments or other small parts are decorative keepsakes and may not be suitable as toys for young children. Embroidered facial features are recommended when a bear may be handled by a child.

Your starting week and attendance schedule will be organised according to enrolments and available teaching sessions.

Choose your preferred learning frequency:

Intensive – Consecutive Days: By prior arrangement and subject to availability

Weekly: One session each week

Fortnightly: One session every two weeks

Monthly: One session each month

Flexible / FIFO: Attendance arranged according to available sessions and confirmed bookings
