🧵✨ Course Overview
This beautifully structured 6-Week Tatting Course is designed for absolute beginners who wish to learn the delicate and traditional art of handmade lace making in a clear, progressive, and confidence-building way.
Tatting is a mindful textile skill that combines rhythm, precision, and creativity. Throughout the course, students are guided step-by-step to understand how lace is constructed using rings, chains, picots, and joining techniques. Emphasis is placed on developing correct hand positioning, tension control, neat stitch formation, and pattern interpretation so that learners build strong technical foundations rather than simply copying projects.
Each weekly session introduces carefully sequenced techniques that gradually increase in complexity. Students will practise on structured samples before applying their skills to small decorative projects such as motifs, bookmarks, jewellery pieces, and lace edgings. In addition to practical construction skills, participants will learn about thread selection, shuttle handling, blocking and finishing methods, and basic creative design considerations.
By the end of the program, students will feel confident working independently on beginner-level tatting patterns and will have completed several neat handmade lace items. This course is ideal for craft enthusiasts, textile hobbyists, slow-stitch learners, and anyone interested in preserving traditional needle arts while developing a relaxing and rewarding creative skill.
