Over four guided sessions, you'll create four different designs while developing your confidence in measuring, nail placement, string wrapping and creative design.

WEEK 1 – Star String Art

Module 1: Introduction to String & Nail Art

Learn the essential techniques and create your first string art design.

Lessons include:

• Introduction to string and nail art

• Preparing a timber board

• Transferring a five-point star template

• Measuring and spacing nails evenly

• Basic string wrapping techniques

• Securing and finishing threads

Weekly Project: Five-point star string art.

WEEK 2 – Heart String Art

Module 2: Curves, Colour & Layering

Build your confidence working with curved designs.

Lessons include:

• Transferring a heart template

• Positioning nails around curved outlines

• Maintaining consistent nail spacing

• Creating smooth curves with string

• Introducing additional colours

• Building decorative string layers

• Securing threads neatly

Weekly Project: Colourful heart string art.

WEEK 3 – Balloon String Art

Module 3: Rounded Shapes & Decorative Details

Explore filled designs and contrasting colours.

Lessons include:

• Working with rounded shapes

• Transferring a balloon template

• Positioning nails along curved outlines

• Creating filled string designs

• Using contrasting colours

• Creating the balloon's hanging string

• Adding decorative details

• Finishing the artwork

WEEK 4 – Crescent Moon String Art

Module 4: Completing & Presenting Your Artwork

Bring together your new skills to create your final project.

Lessons include:

• Understanding crescent-shaped designs

• Transferring the moon template

• Positioning nails along inner and outer curves

• Creating clean curved outlines

• Filling designs with string

• Combining decorative colours

• Securing and finishing the artwork

Final Project: Crescent moon string art.

• 4 timber boards, approximately 20cm × 20cm each

• Small hammer

• Panel pins or finishing nails, approximately 20–25mm

• Embroidery thread or craft string in assorted colours

• Star, Heart, Balloon and Crescent Moon templates

• Carbon paper or tracing paper

• Masking tape

• Pencil and eraser

• Ruler

• Fine-tip permanent marker

• Small scissors or thread snips

• Needle-nose pliers

• Fine-grit sandpaper

• Safety glasses

• Small container for nails and threads

Optional Decorative Materials

• Metallic, glitter or glow-in-the-dark threads

• Acrylic paint or wood stain

• Paintbrushes

• Clear acrylic sealer or varnish

• Hanging hardware

Helpful tip: Timber boards may be sanded, painted or prepared before attending class, allowing more time for completing the string art projects.

This course involves hammers, nails, sharp tools and timber materials.

Learners must follow all educator safety instructions and wear safety glasses during nail placement.

Tools should be handled carefully and stored safely when not in use.

Additional assistance or supervision requirements should be discussed before enrolment.
