Designed for children aged 5–12 years, this exciting hands-on course introduces young artists to the fascinating world of scratch art.

Using specially coated scratch-art boards and simple drawing tools, children will learn how to reveal brilliant colours, create interesting patterns and transform their ideas into beautiful artwork.

From exploring lines and textures to designing colourful scenes and completing their own scratch-art masterpiece, learners will develop creativity, patience and artistic confidence.

With step-by-step guidance in a friendly, inclusive environment, every child can discover the joy of creating something unique.

No previous scratch-art experience is necessary!

🖍️ Your 4-Week Creative Journey

Week 1 — Discover Scratch Art

Explore the basics of scratch art! Learn how to use scratching tools to create different lines, shapes and textures while revealing the colours hidden beneath the surface.

Week 2 — Patterns, Light & Contrast

Experiment with repeated patterns, decorative designs and stippling techniques. Discover how light and dark areas can make artwork more interesting.

Week 3 — Rainbow Scenes

Plan and create a colourful scratch-art scene using the techniques learned during the previous sessions.

Week 4 — My Scratch Art Masterpiece

Bring everything together! Design and complete a larger scratch-art project, then mount and prepare your finished artwork for display.

Children will proudly take home their completed creations.

🧵 Supply List — What Learners Need to Bring

All learners must bring their own materials and equipment for this course.

Scratch Art Materials

• Rainbow scratch-art boards or sheets, suitable for children.
• Wooden scratch-art stylus or child-safe scratching tools.
• Additional scratch-art sheets for practice.
• Scratch-art stencils or simple tracing templates.

Drawing & Design Materials

• HB pencil.
• Eraser.
• Sketchbook or drawing paper.
• Ruler.
• Coloured pencils for planning designs.

Final Project Materials

• Larger scratch-art board for the final project.
• Mounting card or sturdy backing board.
• Glue stick or suitable double-sided mounting tape.

Additional Essentials

• Protective apron.
• Soft cleaning cloth or paper towels.
• Folder for transporting artwork.
• Small container for collecting scratch-art shavings.
• Water bottle and a small snack.

Important: Course fees do not include materials. Parents and carers are requested to organise the complete supply list before their child's first session.

Please ensure that scratching tools are child-safe. Sharp metal engraving tools or craft knives are not required.
