What if a simple greeting card could spring to life?

✂️ Your 4-Week Creative Journey

Project: A Card That Pops!

Children will discover how a flat piece of cardstock can transform into a three-dimensional greeting card.

They will practise folding, making simple cuts and creating beginner-friendly pop-up tabs.

Using colourful paper shapes, learners will design a cheerful card featuring a surprise that appears when opened.

Skills: Folding, simple cutting, pop-up tabs and basic assembly.

Take-home creation: A colourful pop-up surprise card.

Week 2 — Pop-Up Animals & Characters

Project: My Pop-Up Animal Friend

Children will build on their new skills by creating a greeting card featuring an animal or imaginative character.

They will experiment with layered paper shapes and simple pop-up supports.

Possible designs include:

  • A playful puppy.
  • A colourful butterfly.
  • A friendly dinosaur.
  • A smiling cat.
  • An imaginative character.

Skills: Layering, positioning, pop-up construction and character design.

Take-home creation: A personalised animal or character pop-up card.

Week 3 — Moving & Interactive Cards

Project: My Moving Paper Surprise

This week, children will explore how simple paper mechanisms can create movement.

They will learn to make a beginner-friendly sliding element that moves when gently pulled.

Children can choose a design such as a moving rainbow, a travelling rocket or a character appearing from behind a paper scene.

Skills: Simple sliding mechanisms, paper alignment, measuring and careful assembly.

Take-home creation: An interactive greeting card with a moving feature.

Week 4 — My Special Occasion Masterpiece

Project: A Card Made with Love

For their final project, children will combine their favourite techniques to create a personalised greeting card for someone special.

They may choose a theme such as:

  • Birthday celebrations.
  • Thank-you messages.
  • Congratulations.
  • Friendship.
  • A special family occasion.

Learners will plan their design, choose a suitable pop-up technique and add decorative details and a personal message.
