✨ Your Four-Week Creative Journey
WEEK 1 — MY FIRST MINI TERRARIUM
Project: My Open Succulent Garden
Children begin by discovering how a miniature plant environment is created.
Using a lightweight open container, suitable succulent potting mix, smooth pebbles and a small spineless succulent, learners will assemble a miniature garden.
They will explore the importance of drainage, sunlight and appropriate watering.
Skills: Basic planting, soil preparation, plant placement and observation.
Finished project: Open succulent garden.
WEEK 2 — THE MOSSY WOODLAND
Project: My Miniature Moss Terrarium
This week, children will explore moisture-loving plants and woodland environments.
Using a clear, lightweight container, suitable growing medium and commercially sourced terrarium moss, learners will create a miniature woodland landscape.
They will experiment with arranging moss, smooth stones and lightweight natural decorations.
Children will discuss how moss environments differ from dry succulent gardens.
Skills: Habitat comparison, moisture awareness, landscape arrangement and observation.
Finished project: Miniature moss terrarium.
WEEK 3 — DESERT LANDSCAPE ADVENTURES
Project: My Mini Desert Terrarium
Children will discover how plants adapt to drier environments.
Using a shallow open container, suitable succulent potting mix, decorative stones and a small spineless succulent, learners will create a desert-inspired miniature landscape.
They will explore how different colours, textures and plant arrangements can represent a dry habitat.
Skills: Plant adaptation, landscape design, texture and environmental awareness.
Finished project: Mini desert-themed terrarium.
WEEK 4 — MY LITTLE GREEN WORLD
Project: My Personalised Living Terrarium
For their final creative adventure, children become miniature garden designers!
Using techniques learned throughout the course, learners will plan and create their own living terrarium.
They will select a suitable open-container plant arrangement, choose decorative materials and create a personalised miniature landscape.
Children will also prepare a simple care card explaining how to look after their plants at home.
Skills: Design planning, plant selection, environmental awareness, creative arrangement and responsibility.
Finished project: Personalised living terrarium with care card.
Projects may be adapted to suit each child's age, abilities and working pace. Plant choices will be limited to suitable, child-appropriate varieties.
🌱 Caring for Your Miniature Garden
Children will learn that living terrariums require ongoing care.
Care requirements depend on the plants and growing conditions.
Open succulent gardens generally need bright light, suitable drainage and infrequent watering.
Moss terrariums require different moisture conditions and should not be treated like succulent gardens.
Children will receive guidance on the basic care needs of their chosen plants.
