WEEK 1 – Introduction to Crochet

Module 1: Getting Started

You'll learn:

• Understanding crochet hooks and yarn

• Choosing suitable hook sizes

• Holding your crochet hook comfortably

• Understanding yarn tension

• Making a slip knot

• Creating foundation chains

• Counting chain stitches

• Practising basic stitch formation

Practical Activity: Foundation chain and beginner stitch samples.

WEEK 2 – Building Your Crochet Skills

Module 2: Stitches, Stripes & Colour Changes

Begin working with different stitches and explore creative colour combinations.

You'll learn:

• Double crochet

• Half treble crochet

• Treble crochet

• Working in rows

• Turning your work correctly

• Creating simple stripes

• Changing yarn colours

• Securing yarn ends

• Maintaining consistent tension

Practical Activity: Crochet stitch and colour-change samples.

WEEK 3 – Progressing Your Skills

Module 3: Patterns & Your First Project

Build your confidence while exploring new techniques.

You'll learn:

• Understanding granny squares

• Reading simple crochet instructions

Weekly Project: Handmade crochet bookmark.

WEEK 4 – Practice, Finishing & Your Final Project

Module 4: Creating Your Crochet Bandana

Bring together the skills you've developed throughout the course.

You'll learn:

• Reviewing previously learned stitches

• Understanding simple project construction

• Following a beginner-friendly bandana pattern

• Practising stitch consistency

• Working decorative edges

• Weaving in yarn ends

• Basic blocking and shaping

• Finishing and presenting your project

Final Project: Handmade crochet bandana.

Some learners may need additional practice or time at home to complete their projects.

• 100% acrylic yarn in two different colours

• Approximately 10–12 ply yarn, subject to yarn and hook compatibility

• Crochet hook approximately 4.5–5.5mm, suitable for your chosen yarn

• Small scissors

• Yarn needle for weaving in ends

• Notebook and pen, optional

• Small project bag, optional

Beginner tip: Choose smooth, light-coloured yarn so you can see your stitches more easily.
