Course Overview
Have you always admired beautiful macramé creations and wondered how they're made?
This relaxed and friendly beginner course is the perfect introduction to the art of knotting. No previous experience is required.
Over four enjoyable weeks you'll learn the essential macramé knots while completing a collection of beautiful handmade projects to take home.
By the end of the course you'll have the confidence to continue creating your own macramé projects at home.
Week 1
Introduction to Macramé

Project:
🪴 Mini Plant Hanger
Students will complete a simple hanging planter using the basic knots learned in class.

Creating simple patterns
Project:
🌿 Beginner Wall Hanging
A modern decorative wall hanging using a wooden dowel.
Week 3
Practical Everyday Macramé

Decorative finishing
Project:
🗝️ Macramé Keyring & Bag Charm
Students will create one or two stylish accessories that make wonderful gifts.
Week 4
Putting It All Together

Project:
🌈 Rainbow Wall Hanging or Feather Wall Hanging
Students can choose one beginner-friendly project to complete and personalise.

What Students Need to Bring
Please bring the following to the first class:
Materials

3 mm natural cotton macramé cord (approximately 120 metres)

1 × 16–20 mm wooden dowel (approximately 40 cm long)

2 × small wooden rings (50–60 mm)

1 × small terracotta pot or plant pot (approximately 10–12 cm)

Small keyring hardware (2 pieces)

Measuring tape

Notebook and pen
Tools

Sharp fabric scissors

Small comb or pet brush (for brushing fringes)

Masking tape

Course Outcome
