Children's Quilting / Patchwork Classes
Quilting is the art of piecing a top, adding batting and backing, then stitching all the layers together to create a soft, padded item. In this course children will learn quilting and patchwork and worn on a few easy basic projects.
Children will finish off this course, with making a quilted tote bag which they will through the duration of their course along with working on other small projects.
In this course, students will learn how to:
​use a rotary cutter
​iron vs pressing
​measure and cut
​accurate piecing
​create 4-patch, 9-patch, and double nine-patch blocks;
​add borders and a binding
​straight line and grid quilting.
​complete a quilted sewing tote bag
Students must have:
​their own sewing machine
​a ¼ inch presser foot
​extra empty bobbins
​extra needles size 80/12 or 90/14
​a large spool of neutral colored thread, preferably a medium gray or medium tan
​fabric markers / marking pens both a light and a dark
